THE RUSTYCAM TOOLBOX
Toolpath plugins.
Choose a process from dimensions on a print, or work directly from a STEP model.
Current development build. Availability depends on the installed backend and post processor. Public installers are not released yet.Conversational plugins
Dimension-driven machining, soft jaws and program controls. No STEP model required.
Face Milling
Surface the top of stock to a specified height with controlled passes, stepover and approach moves.
Use for: cleaning up saw-cut stock or establishing a flat datum.Side Milling
Machine straight sides from the side or top down, using dimensions or a compatible earlier rectangular profile.
Use for: squaring a block or bringing a straight wall to size.Edge Notch
Cut a notch or step open to the edge of the stock, with an outside approach and controlled cutting passes.
Use for: edge reliefs, open steps and locating features.Keyway
Mill a straight keyway with full-radius or flat ends, allowing for the corner radius left by the cutter.
Use for: shaft key seats and dimensioned straight slots.Slotting
Machine an open-ended slot, with optional looping roughing passes to work across its width.
Conversational slotting, not model-based Adaptive Clearing.Rectangular Profile
Machine an outside rectangular outline with controlled dimensions and corner radii.
Use for: rectangular shoulders, pads and outside profiles.Polygon Profile
Machine the outside of a regular polygon with defined size, orientation and corner treatment.
Use for: hexagons and other regular multi-sided features.Circular Boss
Machine around a circular feature while leaving the boss standing inside the cut.
Use for: round locating pads and circular shoulders.Internal Polygon
Limited scopeContour the inside of a polygon using an existing prepared opening or helical entry.
Contour generation is available. The adaptive clearing route is still disabled pending validation.Cone
Follow a variable-radius spiral to machine a conical feature.
Requires suitable tool reach and entry clearance. Curved stock simulation has limitations.Adaptive Arc
Cut a circular relief across an original stock edge with the vertical approach outside the material.
An edge-cutout process; this is not the 2D Adaptive Clearing engine.Slitting Saw
Make a saw cut using the blade and arbor dimensions from the selected library tool.
Use for: narrow saw-cut features. Final cut-material simulation is still limited.Hole Pattern
Apply axial hole-making cycles to a defined pattern of hole positions.
Use for: drilling, peck drilling and supported boring cycles. Cycle availability depends on the post.Bolt Circle
Place holes around a circle and machine them with the selected axial cycle.
Use for: flange holes and circular mounting patterns.Helical Entry
Ramp down in a circular helix to open material for a later process.
Uses true helical arcs where supported by the selected post.Spiral Bore
Enlarge a prepared opening with spiral milling passes to reach the required bore size and depth.
Requires an existing opening that covers the specified starting diameter and depth.Auto Tap
Tap holes using tool-library pitch and spindle speed to calculate synchronized motion.
Supported G84 post dialects only; not every controller's tapping mode is interchangeable.Thread Milling
Cut internal threads with an upward helical thread-milling path inside a prepared hole.
Requires suitable hole clearance and known cutter geometry and reach.ID Chamfer
Break the inside edge of a hole using explicit dimensions or a supported earlier opening.
Uses the cutter's measured included angle, tip-flat diameter and flute length.OD Chamfer
Chamfer an outside rectangular edge from explicit geometry or a linked rectangular profile.
Use for: consistent outside edge breaks.Auto Chamfer
Use accepted earlier features to create chamfers around supported holes, bosses, profiles, keyways, slots and notches.
Feature-aware, not automatic chamfering of every edge in any model.Counterbore / Chamfer
Machine a counterbore or chamfer at an explicit hole or a compatible earlier hole feature.
Uses a flat end mill or measured conical cutter; existing-hole clearance must be established.Text Engraving
Engrave lettering with stroke paths and controlled moves between disconnected strokes.
Use for: part numbers, labels and identification. Centerline engraving, not text pocketing.SVG Engraving
Trace vector artwork or create hatch paths from supported SVG geometry.
Use for: logos and line artwork. Not a general cutter-compensated pocketing operation.Soft Jaws
Build the roughing process for a matched pair of jaws, with linked finishing and identification steps.
The current workflow uses matched 1 × 2 inch bars (25.4 × 50.8 mm).Soft Jaw Finishing
Finish the accepted jaw cavity with its own tool and feed settings after roughing.
Linked to the parent Soft Jaws process.Soft Jaws Chamfer
Break the finished cavity's contact edges while retaining the jaw floor and outside edges.
Runs after the linked jaw finishing process.Soft Jaws Pickup Hole
Mill a pickup hole to help locate the jaw setup.
This creates a reference hole; it is not a machine-probing cycle.Soft Jaws Label / Offset Arrow
Mark the part number, pickup-to-origin offsets and direction arrow on the jaw.
Uses information from the parent setup and follows the pickup-hole process.Pre-machined Features
Declare an opening already present in the stock so following processes can use it.
Produces no G-code. The operator is responsible for the declared dimensions.Rotary Index
Limited scopeAdd a manual indexing instruction and an M0 stop for the operator.
Not automatic A/B/C axis motion. Subsequent cutting depends on the supported indexed setup workflow.Tool Change
Change the active tool without adding a cutting operation.
Uses the selected post processor's supported tool-change and stop controls.Manual G-code
Limited scopeImport supported hand-authored motion into a process for checked posting.
Not unrestricted NC passthrough. Unsupported commands are rejected rather than silently removed.Program Stop
Insert an operator stop between processes where the setup requires attention.
A program-control item, not a cutting toolpath.
STEP model plugins
Select features from your imported model for pocketing, profiles and hole making.
2D Pocket
Clear a selected planar STEP pocket floor while preserving islands and surrounding bodies.
Conventional pocketing with a flat end mill—not Adaptive Clearing.Finish Contour
Limited scopeFinish selected open or closed model walls using exact STEP geometry.
Requires the solid-inspection package and a clear entry. Wear/geometry compensation modes are not activated.Hole Making
Resolve hole selections from a STEP model and apply the installed native hole-making cycles.
Uses model geometry instead of manually entering every hole location.Pocket Roughing
In developmentPrepare model-driven roughing for internal pockets, including entry and depth controls.
Adaptive engine integration and complete-path validation remain in development.Profile Roughing
In developmentPrepare roughing along an external model profile, including open-side machining.
Experimental adaptive roughing; full-path qualification is still in progress.2D Adaptive Clearing
In developmentDeveloping controlled-engagement clearing for planar model regions, with smooth cutting and linking moves.
Not ready for general use. Complete-path and final posted-motion validation are ongoing.
Planned
Future STEP-model capabilities—not available yet, with no release date promised.
3D Adaptive Clearing
PlannedModel-aware roughing at multiple depths for complex 3D parts, managing cutter engagement as the shape changes.
Adaptive Rest Machining
Planned capabilityUse a smaller tool to clear material left by an earlier roughing tool, focusing on corners and tighter areas.
A capability of adaptive roughing, not necessarily a separate plugin.Scallop Finishing
PlannedFinish curved 3D surfaces with closely spaced passes that follow the part, controlling the ridges left between cuts.
A finishing strategy, separate from adaptive roughing.
